HAMILTON BY-ELECTION

BOOTH FOR SERVICEMEN

The Army authorities have made arrangements to enable service men and women entitled to vote at the coming Hamilton by-election to record their votes. If they are not able to vote in the normal way at one of the booths provided on election day, they can vote at a special booth, staffed by Army personnel. This will be open from 3 to 5 p.m. on May 18, 21, and 23, and a mobile booth will also be at the Waikato Hospital on May 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. Commenting today on the service, Major Cranston mentioned that there were about 250 service men and women entitled to record votes. Already voting had commenced for men stationed at Ngaruawahia. Others had decided to await an opportunity nearer election day.
