MASS ATTACKS BY AIR

GIANT BOMBERS FOR PACIFIC (Received May 15, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 15 “ Fleets of giant new bombers are being built in Britain for mass attacks on Japan,” said Mr John Storey, director of the Beaufort division of the Commonwealth Department of Aircraft Production, who has returned to Australia after six months in England and the United States. The new bombers would have the same bomb capacity as the standard Lancaster but* would have much greater range and heavier armament, he added.

In the United States factories in all parts of the country were turning out Super Fortresses or Super Fortress parts for the war against Japan.
