FRANKTON SALE
SMALL YARDING PENNED The auctioneers report on the Frankton stock sale yesterday as follows.—The opening sale of the year was held today when a small yarding of most classes was penned. Fat sheep came forward in less than average numbers while fat lambs were in fair supply. Competition for wethers was spirited in the first row, and prices for these advanced by 2s 6d per head, but values eased towards the finish. Prices for lambs and ewes showed little change. The advertised romney store lambs also elicited steady bidding, and very satisfactory prices were obtained. A medium penning of ox beef met with steady competition throughout, and prices were fully on a par with those ruling before the holidays. A very small offering of prime station bred heifers were very keenly sought and quotations were ■in advance of previous quotations.* Pigs were yarded in very short supply.
