CALF CLUB EXHIBITS The first field day to be held since 1941 by the Morrinsville Group of the Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Club proved a popular gathering, no fewer than 40 calves, the prize-winners from 12 schools being paraded before the judges, Messrs H. J. Barford, J. Hart and J. A. Sanders. Prizes were presented by the Mayor of Morrinsville, Mr W: Hetherington, as follows: Best Dairy Type (Arthur Cup): R. Sealey (Kereone) 1, Maureen Mulcahy (Mangateparu) 2, Marie Gatenby (Mangateparu) 3. Junior yandling (Junior Cup): G. Law (Whitikahu) 1, M. Gatenby (Mangateparu) 2, C. Cameron (Kiwitahi) 3. Senior Handling (Tui Cup): R. Sealey (Kereone) 1, M. Welch (Morrinsville) 2, J. Law (Whitikahu) 3. Best Team of Three Ealves (Morgan Davies Shield): Kiwitahi chool. Best Kept Diary: May Alison (Te Puninga) 1, Pauline West (Te Puninga) 2, Margaret McCallum (Whitikahu) 3. Most Aggregate Points (Hetherington Trophy): Whitikahu School. Mr W. J. Aitken’s Special Prize for Best Girl and Boy Handling: Betty Fulton (Whitikahu); Bill Bird (Hoe-o-Tainui). Mr H. E. G. Wilson’s Special Prize for Youngest Competitor: Charles Cameron (Kiwitahi), under S 1 One of the most consistent competitors was R. Sealey, who, with a brother, is an evacuee from England. The lads are living with Mr and Mrs A. E. Haynes (Kiwitahi), and it - was from Mr Haynes’ herd that Sealey’s calf was selected.
