OVER 3,000,000 BIRTHS
GREAT INCREASE IN AMERICA (Received Oct. 2, 11 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 The United States birth-rate in 1943 exceeded the 3,000,000 mark for the first time in history, according to the Census Bureau. The registered births were 2,935,171, and unregis*. tered were estimated at three per cent, of the total or 88,000. Almost 75 per cent, of the births occurred in hospitals. Home births and those with midwives decreased slightly.
