ATTACK ON CONVOY

AIRMAN CAUSES EXPLOSION LONDON, October 1. Spotting a convoy of about twenty ships about to move out of anchor in the Mount Schiilling roads last night the pilot of a Royal Air Force Coastal Command Wellington selected the largest—a 400-ton ship—for attack. Fifteen seconds later he saw an amber glow and the whole ship covered with spray from a bomb explosion. There was no flak from the ships until after the attack. Then it was inaccurate.
