VITAL STATISTICS
DECLINE IN DEATHS The vital statistics for last month show that compared with September, 1943, births remained the same in number, deaths showed a substantial decline and marriages were slightly fewer. The figures were, with the figures for the corresponding month last year in parentheses:—Births 57 (57), deaths 25 (44), marriages 30 (33). The figures for the first nine months of the year, compared with the same period in 1943, are:—Births 685 (547), deaths 320 (304), marriages 282 (232).
