“THE ARCADIANS”
ACTIVITY AT BOX OFFICE Box plans for the Hamilton Operatic Society’s production of ‘‘The Arcadians” opened this morning, and judging by the big demand for seats the v'eek’s season, which will' open at the Theatre Royal next Monday night, should, be a great success. A representative of the Vaikato Times who saw a rehearsal du mg the weekend found a large compahy working enthusiastically under the /direction of Mr Elton Black and things /shaping well for a very enjoyable prodi ,fction. A feature of ‘‘The Arcadians” is the lovely melodies, and these are being sung particularly well by principals and chorus. There is also an unusual and amusing story, showing the contrast between the dwellers in Arcady find those in London, and plenty of romance. Add to these, ail the trimming of musical comedy—ballet, orchestra, scenery, costuming, lighting, etc.—and the result should be something that will prove again, as has been proved in the past, that the Hamilton Operatic Society is second to none in New Zealand. The society deserves well of town and country; it provides splendid entertainment and at the same time it does the definite community work of discovering and developing the talent of our young people.
