Trophy Lost

The loss of the Ahuwhenua Cup, which was a replacement of the original trophy presented by Lord Bledisloe ten years ago for the development of Maori land settlement, was reported during the ceremony at Hastings on Saturday at which the cup was to be presented to this year’s winners, Mr and Mrs Bunny Otene. The original cup was destroyed by fire, and the replacement, it was reported on Saturday, had gone astray in transit. The Minister of Native Affairs, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, apologised for the absence of the cup and presented a photograph of it to the winners, adding that if the cup could not be traced it would be replaced;
