Mrs Cranston, sen., Palmerston North, who has been visiting Hamilton, has returned home. Mrs R. Hooper, Wellington, was a week-end visitor to Hamilton. Mrs J. G. Barnes, Inglewood, has been spending a few days in Hamilton. Mrs J. H. Francis, Wellington, has been visiting Hamilton. News received this week from the Truby King Mothercraft Society in Sydney pays unsolicited tribute to the late Sir Truby King. In the last three years several suburban rooms which had been open to mothers and babies once or twice a week are now open the full time daily, as the work in Sydney is increasing rapidly. The pre-natal section, opened early in the year, had begun with a nurse in attendance for half a day only, but within a few weeks it was found necessary to keep a full-time nurse employed daily. The first members of the American Women’s Army Corps to come to Australia have arrived in Sydney en route to a northern station, states a Sydney message. Numbering several hundred, they were given a Hollywood welcome. The United States Army Band played “The StarSpangled. Banner” and the W.A.A.C.’s leader was presented with a basket of flowers with a streamer reading “Welcome Waacs.”
