MOSIR AND KALINOVICHI FALL RUSSIAN ADVANCE IN PRIPET MARSHES SKILFUL MANOEUVRING BRINGS SUCCESS LONDON. Jan. 14 Mosir and Kalinovichi have been captured by Russian forces driving into the Pripet Marshes. These important successes were announced in a special order of the day issued by Marshal Stalin today. The two towns, which guard the only road into the centre of the Marshes, were defended by German lines seven miles deep. hile Russian tanks and other forces made a frontal assault cavalry skilfully manoeuvred to the rear and cut off the German retreat. The offensive, which swept through 40 towns and villages yesterday, represents a new threat from the south to tl|e string of powerful German bases in White Russia. Advanced tank detachments, cavalry and motorised infantry of General Vatutin’s forces, which crossed the 1939 Polish frontier, are in hot pursuit of the retreating Germans beyond Sarny and now are nearly 60 miles west of the frontier. The advance is so swift that the Germans are abandoning considerable quantities of supplies and equipment, and the Russians are constantly finding important bridges left undamaged. On the southern flank of this advance the German landslide continues. More than 60 places fell yesterday.
