EAST COAST STOCK

NOT WANTED IN WAIKATO A feature of stock movement at this time of the year has for some years past been the transfer of thousands of head of store sheep .and cattle from the Poverty Bay country to the Waikato and northern King Country. This year there is likely to be little movement of this class of stock. Inquiry as to the cause brought the information that fairly good rains have been experienced throughout the Poverty Bay and East Coast districts, resulting in a greater supply of grass than usual. Breeders have therefore been able to carry their stock and are not forced to find markets for them in other districts. In view of the very dry season in the Waikato it is doubtful if there v/ould be many cattle and sheep needed this summer and autumn here. Store stock for the back country will no doubt come in from ;the East Coast, on the chance of im- ! proved weather conditions, but in nothing like the quantities of former summers. STOCK SALES ON MONDAY The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited draw attention to their stock sale to be held at Te Anga on Monday, at which fixture they will offer 3000 lambs and wethers and 200 head of cattle. At their Putaruru stock sale on the same date 80 head of cattle, 600 sheep and 60 fat, store and weaner pigs will be submitted.
