GOOD COMPANIONS

ENTERTAINING THE SERVICES The Good Companions* that clever revue company that has been entertaining service men and women for some months, opened the 1944 season with a new programme and with some changes in personnel. The company is under the capable direction of Mr Howard Moody, with the popular Scottish comedian, Mr Elton Black, as his assistant. AUa camp last night the company had a great reception, which culminated in cheers and the singing of “They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” The revue, which went with an exhilarating swing, included entertaining Scottish humour by Elton Black, funny burlesque studies by Renee Loach, sweet singing (solos and harmonising) by Jean Johanson. Heather MacDonald and Yvonne McLachlan, ’cello solos by Yvonne McLachlan, humour and dramatic sketches by Horrie Loach, tenor solos by Owen James (the possessor of an outstanding voice), magic by Bob Harris, and violin solos by Morton Kelly. Howard Moody, besides acting as music director, took part in Some of the sketches. The programme ended with a very amusing skit on an old-time melodrama After the performance the members of the company were entertained very hospitably in the sergeants’ mess.
