FASCISTS SHOT
CIANO AND DE BONO SENTENCE CARRIED OUT TRIAL BY GERMANS } LONDON, Jan. 11 Count Ciano (Mussolini’s son-in-law and formerly Italian Foreign Minister) was shot this morning, together with Marshal de Bono and Marinelli, Pareschi and Gottardi, tht three other members of the Fascist Grand Council who were yesterday sentenced to death by a German tribunal. The trial and subsequent executions took place at Bologna. Tht tribunal sentenced to death 17 members of the Fascist Grand Council but only five of them were present, the others being “abroad.” The fifth man under arrest. Cianetti, former Minister of Agriculture, was sentenced to 30 years’ penal serviture. The German-controlled Paris radio reports the arrest in Home of Carlo Scorza, former secretary of the Fascist Party. The charges are said to be different from those against the 18 members of the Fascist Grand Council who have been sentenced to death. He voted against the deposition of Mussolini, but is charged with not having the Fascist Party’s forces after Mussolini’s arrest, and with naving written a letter adhering to Badoglio’s policy. I !
