YOUTH FOR SENTENCE

BREAKING AND ENTERING FOUR CHARGES ADMITTED Four charges of breaking and entering were admitted by Barry Clifton Brookes, aged 18, employed by the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, at Matangi, when he appeared before Messrs P. Hunter and W. Bourne, J’s.P., in the ; Hamilton Police Court today. A further charge was dismissed for lack of prosecution. Senior-Sergeant A. G. McHugh prosecuted. The premises referred to in the charges were Morris Stores and Motors, Limited, Hamilton East, from which goods of the value of £1 3s 3d were removed; Associated Bottlers, Limited, Frankton, from which three packets of cigarettes were taken; and the Hillcrest School, which was broken into but nothing removed. Evidence was given by Mrs Hazel Jane Morris, in charge of Morris Stores; Mrs Dorothy Bertha Bartrum. employed by Morris Stores; Sergeant Ernest Paul Morris, a director of the company; William Percy Howard Erson, branch manager of Associated Bottlers Company, Limited, and Mervyn MacKenize, secretary to the Hillcrest School Committee. Constable A. A. Gudsell read a statement in which Brookes admitted the offences. Brookes was committed to the Supreme Court for^sentence.
