The board approved 0 r the offer made t the Canterbury Park Club by the llnance committee ror the extension of the lease to make a total period or 40 years, with a rental or *ISOO a year Tor ten years and a reassessment every ten years. Mrs Clarke said the trotting authorities would not consider the building programme unless a long lease could be secured. “I am led to believe the three clubs, Canterbury Park, the Metropolitan rlub and the New Brighton club, are going to amalgamate and make magnificent grounds, with some or the best appointments In the world,” she added. Objecting to the extension of the present lease of 20 years, the Hon. J. K. Archer. M.L.C., said the trotting ground* Termed an attractive area which would provide land for 7000 houses, If necessary.
