GREAT ORDNANCE DEPOT

REVELATION IN AUSTRALIA MELBOURNE, Ncv. 24 The existence of Australia's greatest ordnance depot near Albuiy, at the Junction of the New South Wales and Victoria State railway systems, has been officially revealed. The depot, which covers more than 200 C acres of former bushland, has been built in the last two years at a cost of millions of pounds. The storehouses are packed with tens of millions of pounds worth of material, representing the bulk of the United States lend-’ease ordnance supplies. The depot also has a huge motor transport park. An inland site for the depot was selected at a lime when an attack on Australia'•by Japan was feared to be imminent. Nearly 20 miles of spur lines have been built ,to accommodate trains from New South Wales and Victoria.
