WARNING TO FRENCH
NECESSARY AIR ATTACKS LONDON, Nov. 18 The British Broadcasting Corporation last night sent out a special warning to the people of France about coming air attacks by the Allies. To shorten the war, it said, it was necessary for the Allied air forces to devote urgent and special attention to the industries of France which were engaged in the manufacture of tanks, guns, lorries, planes and locomotives.
The broadcast then named targets in 36 places, including Paris, Nantes, Le Mans, Limoges, Toulouse, Lille and Lyons, which from now on would be heavily bombed either by day or night. ‘This is the limit that can be said consistent with the success of the operations,” it concluded. “These may directly affect the duration of the war and the date of your liberation. It is therefore of the greatest urgency for all those working or living near the targets listed to take all precautions.”
