Burns to Face Bums to the face were received by Thea Barnett, aged 13, daughter of Mrs C. M. Barnett, of Wharepapa, Te Awamutu, as the result of kerosene exploding. The girl was admitted to the Waikato Hospital. Chamber of Commerce Examinations The annual examinations conducted by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, which began on Monday, will conclude tonight. Seventy students entered for the tests. Messrs R. E. Montgomery, A. M. Rosie, W. S. Morrison, C. Nisbet. A. A. Griffiths and G. H. V. Bindon were appointed by the Chamber to act as supervisors. Children’s Christmas Party The children of returned servicemen and of servicemen serving overseas will not be forgotten by the Waikato Returned Services Association this year. A children’s Christmas party is to be held on December 18, and at the half-yearly meeting of the association last night a committee was appointed to make arrangements for the party. Growth of R.S.A. The financial membership of the R.S.A. throughout the Dominion at October 31 stood at 43,763, including 6987 of those returned from the present war. This was reported to the half-yearly meeting of the Waikato Returned Services Association last night by the president, Mr Arthur Fow, who added that the figures for the same time last year were 35,518 and 2108. Bus S-ervice from Karapiro Following on a communication from the previous meeting of the Cambridge Borough Council, when Mr M. Wells pressed for a more adequate bus service to Cambridge for the Karapiro works people, the Transport Department wrote to the council at its last meeting. The department advised that if a public meeting were held at the works the department would be pleased to consider recommendations from such a meeting for improvements to the service. It was decided to forward the correspondence to the resident engineer, Mr G. T. Gilkison, with the suggestion that he call a meeting.
