MAN KILLED, FELLOW INJURED TAPE TOUCHES POWER LINE (By Telegraph.—Press Association> WAIPUKURAU, Friday While engaged on work in connection with a soil erosion survey near Waipukurau yesterday afternoon two public works employees received electric shocks, causing the almost immediate death of one and serious burns to the other. The men were Killed Mr Angus Mac Kay, aged 36, married, of Eketahuna. Injured Mr Rayner James Jose, admitted to hospital in a serious condition. The two men were using a steel tape, with Mr Mac Kay on a hill 50 feet above an 11,000 volt power line and Mr Jose in a paddock below. The steel tape touched the bottom high tension line. An inquest was opened this morning and after evidence of identification was adjourned.
