Comedian Refuses Role

After several months’ work for the Oxford Group movement Mr Ivan Menzies has rejoined the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company in Australia. A Sydney paper says that Mr Menzies for patriotic reasons refused to play in “The Mikado” during the Melbourne season, and the paper wonders why the comedian, to be consistent, did not refuse to play the Italian role ot the Duke ol PlazaToro in "The Gondoliers.” The Gilbert and Sullivan company includes Misses Marie Bremner, Evelyn Gardiner, Peggy Shea and Elva Blair, Messrs Maxwell Oldaker, Herbert Browne, Gregory' Stroud, Richard Watson and Bernard Manning.
