OBITUARY

MR ROBERT H. PATERSON One of the best known teachers in the service of the Education Department, Mr Robert H. Paterson, has died after a short illness at the age of 72. Born in Thames, he spent 45 years as a teacher in the Auckland Education Board’s district and was headmaster of the Mount Roskill, Nelson Street and Newton East schools prior to taking over the direction cf the work at Epsom Normal School, from which he retired, at his own request, in 1932. The late Mr Paterson was a former president of the Headmasters’ Association. Mrs Paterson predeceased him. He is survived by two daughters and a son, Mr K. G. Paterson, of Hamilton.
