BOMBS ON LONDON

NURSING-HOME DESTROYED

LONDON, Nov. 7

A large nursing-home was almost cut in half by a direct hit when German raiders dropped bombs in several London districts on Friday night. Twelve aged invalids and three newly-born babies with their mothers were rescued, but all were injured. Two of the elderly patients died later in hospital. Rescue squads are still searching for other victims who are believed to be trapped in the debris. One raider was destroyed. London had a short “alert” again last night and searchlights picked out enemy raiders over the Thames Estuary. Bombs are reported to have fallen in the London area and in south-east England and East Anglia. Three of the raiders were destroyed.
