NAVAL ENGAGEMENTS

E-BOATS BLOWN UP LONDON, Sept. 27 A number of small naval engagements occurred in the English Channel yesterday. Royal Navy patrol trawlers, corvettes and destroyers intercepted several E-boats. In one action a trawler was torpedoed and sunk. Meanwhile, two light motorlauncnes sighted a number of other E-boats. One E-boat was rammed twice, and finally set on fire and blew up. Survivors were picked up. A few of the motor-launches were damaged, but all got back.

In another action, a corvette engaged some E-boats at close quarters. Visibility was poor and although some of the enemy craft were seen to be hit, the full effect of our gunfire could not be seen. No damage or casualties were suffered in this action.
