FINE QUALITY BULLS NATIONAL FIXTURE OPENS Representative of the leading Jersey studs throughout the Dominion, quality Jersey bulls paraded before the judges at the Claudelands Showgrounds today at the opening of the 21st annual national Jersey show and sale. Desoite the rigorous winter conditions the standard of the entry compared favourably with other years. The grand champion bull of the show was Oaklea Major, the pro-' perty of the Waikato breeder, Mr A. C. Smith, of Melville. The reserve grand champion was Ku Ku Glad Chimes, the property of Mr V. McD. SLOWER MARKET PRICES UP TO 127 GUINEAS A slower market than la>t vear was experienced at the 21st annual National Jersey Bull Sale which opened at the Claudelands selling pavilion today. Top price of the early sales was 127 guineas. There was a crowded buying bench, representatives of nearly every district in the North island being present. Competition was fairly steady, but was never animated. Tops sold from 63gns to 85gns, With others meeting the market from 22gns to 40gns. The top price of 127gns was given by Messrs Kirton Bros, of Kohuratahi, for lot 24, offered on account of Messrs Jordan Bros, Omaka, Blenneim. This bull was . Wlllowhaugh O.xTord Fame, by Tuhitarata Oxford Knight from Wlllowhough Failli, V.H.C. For lot 36, Oaklea Major, offered on account of Mr A. C. Smith, Mehille, Mr A. Clarke, or Whangarei gave inogns. For the 35 entries sold over the early sales an average nr odgns was obtained. The sale is being conducted by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Company Lid., with Messrs <:. k. Robertson and J. MeCaw in the rostrum.
