SLIGHT ADVANCE IN BEEF The auctioneers report as follows on the 1 1 :iuiviu.i slock sale yesterday:— Sheep: A large yarding of fat sheep comprising principally wethers came forward. Competition for prime sheep was again keen, and recent quotations were maintained. Fat lambs in full numbers sold at unchanged quotations Cattle: Last week's firm values were maintained for a medium yarding of ox beef. Cow and heifer beef was in short supply and showed a slight advance in values. A small offering of veal was in demand and showed no variation from last sale. Pigs: A medium yarding of all classes of pigs came forward. Baconers and porkers remained firm at recent late rates while stores and weaners sold on a par with last week's quotations. Breeding sows were not in demand. Quotations: Sheep.—Heavy prime wethers, £2 to £2 2s 3d; prime medium weight wethers, 36s Gd to 38s 6d; light wethers, 33s to 355: prime maiden ewes, 31s 6d to 33s 6d; heavy fat ewes. 30s to 335: medium weight, ewes, 26s to 27s 6d; unfinished ewes, 12s to 17s; heavy prime lambs. 25s to 275; medium weight lambs. 23s 6d lo 24s 6d; light weight lambs, 20s to 21s.
