NEW DISEASE

CAUSED BY ANIMALS (Received June 15, 3.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 14 A new unidentified disease with a high mortality rate, probably from the pneumonia group, has appeared in an isolated community. Dr. Dyer, of the public health sendee, stated that of 17 cases eight died, including several nurses who were attending the original case. Later there was one case in an army camp. Dr. Dyer said the discovery of the disease was “rather astonishing.” The causative agent has been isolated in animals.
