BRITISH IN BURMA
(United Press Assn.— tree. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, April 8 Although some aspects of the British campaign are disappointing says the Bntisn United Press correspondent in New Delhi, the British Army has accomplished its main aims. These were:— (1) To claim the attention of the main Japanese forces in Burma. (2) To prevent the Japanese from consolidating their positions and using Arakan as a springboard for an attack against India. (3) to neutralise Akyab as an air base or supply base for a Japanese attack on lnaia. The correspondent adds tnat the object of the armed forces in India is to defend the country until the Allies are ready to retake Burma. British forces, in spite of their recent setbacks, are still fighting well inside Burma. Although the Japanese may attempt to gain local successes before the monsoon breaks, it is too late for a large-scale Japanese invasion of India by way oi Arakan.
