COMMENT ON RUNNING Twice Worthy attempted to win the Autumn Handicap rrom end to end but tired quickly In the straight and was eventually beaten out of a place, Parrish Gipsy finishing with a sustained run in the straight to win, going away by a couple of lengths from Buncrana, who was always handily placed in the running. The straight-out favourite, Rival Chief, was going well until hail a mile rrom home when tie tangled and lost his position. The Hamilton representative, Imperial Jade, made up ground Ui the last half-mile to be a meritorious third. Twice Worthy was fourth and Diana Wild, who broke badly at ne start, and Sea Wolf next. Taking the initiative within the first Turlong Quite New was never arterwarde headed, staying on solidly when challenged in the closing stages of Our Gail, who was always prominently placed in the running. Guidance finished from well back for third, cutting out Lady Bligh, who weakened after being well placed to tEe turn. Our Gail, who was at good odds, made a meritorious showing. The favourite, My Lady Luck, moved up hair-way down the running hut failed to go on with It. It was with a good finishing run that Nola Scott came through to win the Walrarapa Handicap from the ravourite. Knave or Diamonds, who looked likely arter moving to within striking distance of the leaders at the turn. Lanaco also finished well. First Royal weakened at the end after leading at the hair-mile, as also did Thumbs Up and Dlanus. Paddy Pointer showed up prominently In the middle stages but tired quickly when the pressure was applied. There was a complete upset In the R. A. Armstrong Memorial when the little fancied Golden River finished resolutely to win going away by over two lengths.
