DEEP-SEA FISHING

SPORTSMAN’S SUCCESS Striped marlin have been very plentiful this season and some fine catches have been credited to anglers off the east coast of New Zealand, from the North Cape to the East Cape. One of the most successful anglers, Mr G. Morpeth, of Hamilton, caught 22 striped marlin, averaging 2801 b each, during five week-ends, compared with 14 taken by him last season and 11 the year before. The fish averaged 401 b heavier than those caught last year. American visitors have expressed the opinion that New Zealand deepsea game fishing is infinitely superior to the off the coast of America, and they envisage a large increase of American visitors to New Zealand after the war to take part in the sport. _««_*_
