EXPEDITIONARY FORCE (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday. A New Zealand Expeditionary Force casualty list issued tonight contains the following names:— KILLED IN ACTION O’DWYER, K. P. Mr A. W. O’Dwyer, Mor"rlnsville (f)). DIED OF WOUNDS BALL, H. D., Temp./Capt. Mrs J. S. Ball, Auckland (m). PILOT-OFFICER M. V. SMITH Reported killed on active service overseas, Pilot-Officer Maurice Victor Smith is the second son of Mr and Mrs A. V. Smith, of Hataitai, Wellington, to lose his life while serving with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Pilot-Officer Smith joined the Air Force in April last year, and after three months’ training in the Dominion went to Canada, where he gained his commission, afterwards proceeding to England. Educated at Victoria University College and the Wellington Training College, he was a school teacher at Blenheim before he joined the Air Force. He had many friends in Hamilton and neighbourhood. His only brother, Leading Aircraftman Barry Alfred Smith, was killed during training in New Zealand 18 months ago.
