MOTHER SHIPS USED
GERMAN SUBMARINE WARFARE (Official Wireless) (Received Jan. 9, 1.15 p.m.) RUGBY, Jan. 8. It is disclosed that the Germans are using mother ships to refuel long-range submarines, also to provide hospitals for the wounded from the fighting craft. As far as is known they do not carry supplies of torpedoes, probably because of difficulties in transhipment.
