JAPANESE IN SOLOMONS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tpl. Copyright) NEW YORK, Dec. 27 Writing in the Herald-Tribune, Major Fielding Eliot, American military expert, estimates that the Japanese, since August, have lost 1416 planes in the Solomons. This is an average 0L314 a month. They have produced at the same time 250 to 400 combat planes a month. This means that they are losing'almost their total ■wp.- production. This total does not inelude the losses over New Guinea, China and the Aleutians, or operational losses in training, ferrying and convoying.
