WAIKATO COMBINED BREEDERS DEMAND FOR YEARLINGS Prices up to 95 guineas were paid at the first day of the 27th annual Waikato combined breeders’ bull sales which are being conducted at the Claudelands Showgrounds by the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Dalgety and Company and G. W. Vercoe and Co. Aged bulls were not keenly sought, but there was much better demand for yearlings and two-year-olds. The top price of 95 gns. was paid by Mr D. Patte.son. of Te Awamutu, for Messrs G. W. and J. H. Williams’ (Waharoa) yearling bull, Tc Kara Beau Vite. Yesterday's sales included the following:— Mr H. TODAY’S OFFERINGS Transport difficulties affected the attendance at the early sales on the second day of the Waikato Combined Breeders' 27th annual bull sales today. Top price in the morning sales was 25 gns. paid by Mr C. Scott, of Te Kauwhata, for Windermere Free Ace. a two-year-old. on account of and bred by Mr V. McD. Hitchings, of Otorohanga. Other early sales were Mr Hitching’s Windermere Ace Alliance. 2-year-old. 23 gns., Mr J. O’Reilly. Puketaha; Mr W. T. Luxton's (Silverdale) Ridgeway Bravo Cashier, 2-year-old, 19 gns.. Mr J. Cnurtman, Pukerimu; Mr Hitching’s Windermere Ace Day, 2-year-old, 19 gns.. Mr G. Ireland. Karapiro; Mr W. S. McEwen’s (Pukeroro) Craigknoll Gamboge Bruce. 17 gns., Mr W. A. Clarke. Hamilton. Values improved slightly in the afternoon, as was the case yesterday. The best early price was 4fi gns., paid for Mr A. L. Tomorrow, the last day of the sales, Shorthorns, Friesians and Ayrshires will be offered, the animals catalogued numbering 198. Bull Breaks Away Excitement reigned for a moment at the bull sale at Claudelands this morning when a bull broke away from its attendants and in its frenzy charged blindly into a light car. The occupants of the car received a scare but the only damage to the car was a few small dents. The attendants, although shaken off. managed to regain control shortly afterward.
