CAMPAIGN IN AUCKLAND :s o AUCKLAND, Tuesday 0 A gathering which almost filled the ’ s Town Hall heard addresses to mark the opening in Auckland of the 1 campaign for Christian order. The subject of the principal speaker, Professor F. Sinclaire, of Canterbury ,■ College, was “Who Wants Freedom?” The Mayor, Mr J. A. C. Allum, e presided. n We had to meet the Fascist creed, - said Professor Sinclaire, not merely e with denunciation or denial, but with - a creed, a belief, a way of life as :- positive, as aggressive and more - truly creative. We must have a d saner and truer idealism to oppose e the false and distorted idealism of Hitler. d Freedom for the Christian was nothing so abject and futile as the , e supposed right to do as one liked, d It was freedom to live a full human ~ life, in loyalty to the highest they knew, freedom to serve, to obey, to be loyal. ls “The price of freedom is the constant exercise of freedom.” concluded Professor Sinclaire. “The best way is of asserting your claim to freedom is o not merely to be vigilant, but to act >- like free men and women.”
