June 17 An Air Ministry communique states: Last night industrial objectives in the Ruhr and the Rhineland were attacked by the Bomber Command. Mines were also laid in enemy waters. We lost eight bombers. One enemy fighter was destroyed by our bombers in these operations. One of our fighters is missing from a daylight offensive patrol over France yesterday.
