N Z.fc .K JERUSALEM, June 15 With many thousands of British troops fighting in Libya or guarding ther fronts in the Middle East, only a small representative force remained in Cairo for this year’s celebration of the King’s Birthday. South Africans, New Zealanders, the Royal Air Force, men of the armoured brigades, and English and Scottish units—aii taking some part in the desert campaign—were represented in a march through the city streets. The New Zealand Division in Syria and non-divisional troops of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force serving between Libya and the Red Sea were represented by about 100 officers and men of the base infantry and the Army Service Corps unit, who attended a combined service at All Saints’ Cathedral, ana then marched past the British Ambassador, Sir Miles Lampson. Thousands lined the pavements ana watched from office windows as the troops, in summer uniforms, marche. to national songs. Marches wer. played by several brass bands, including the New Zealand base band anc the pipers of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders. The New Zealanders marched pasi the saluting base to the strains ol " Boys from Way Down Under.” Behind them were tall South African; striding along to the famed Springbok song “ Sarie Marais.” The distinctive peaked hats of the New Zealanders were seen again in the parade, when a platoon of cadets from the Middle East 0.C.T.U., includin, men of the New Zealand Expedition-
