TEA COUPONS
EXTENSION OF PERIOD CONFUSED SITUATION CLEARED Tea coupons numbered one to four inclusive will be redeemable until business closes on June 30. The first rationing period was to have closed on June 22 and consequently there has been a rush of buyers which the trade in some places has been unable to meet. Merchants earlier received advice of the extension of the period to June 30, but the instruction had not been received by the district rationing officers until this morning, so that the public was seriously confused. The public was demanding tea at the shop counters, the retailers were pressing the wholesalers and the wholesalers were making greater demands than the packers could meet. The extension of the period will allow over a week for the distribution of tea to satisfy the represented by coupons still unredeemed.
