FEDERAL UNION
An address on Federal Union and its implications for New Zealand was given by Mr M. James at a meeting of the Hamilton Left Book Club. He said the main idea was to federate 15 democratic States, with control vested in a senate and deputies on a basis of population. The voting power would always give the majority to the United States. The speaker said the real meaning of federal union was to sacrifice control of all essential factors to an international body domiciled in the United States, and asked could any New Zealander support such an idea based on fear. He summarised the Christian basis of true peace and prosperity.
