WAIKATO SHOW
DECISION DEFERRED FARM SUPERVISION SCHEME A motion that the association commended the farm supervision scheme about to be put into operation by an organisation in Cambridge and that the members guaranteed their support was passed at the annual meeting of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association today. Mr A. Robinson, of Roto-o-rangi, outlined the scheme, which is to support the farms from which men are being drawn to serve with the forces, and to advise the men on their return to the land at the conclusion of the war. It was agreed that there was great scope for the scheme. Members of the association’s general committee who are on active service are to have their subscription paid for them and they are to remain on the committee. A motion to this effect was carried unanimously. The question of holding the annual show under present conditions was brought under consideration. It was decided that a decision regarding the show, or some suitable substitute, should not be arrived at until July. The association granted permission to the A.B.C. Popular Girl committee to hold a gymkhana on the showgrounds on a date to be fixed at a meeting of the committee tomorrow night. The matter of forwarding donations to help the Popular Girl Contest was left in the hands of the incoming committee.
