TE AWAMUTU RESOLUTIONS (Special to Times) TE AWAMUTU, Wednesday At the Awake, .New Zealand campaign meeting in Te Awamutu the following 1 resolution, moved and seconded by Messrs H. A. Swarbrick and F. Pal-sons respectively, was carried unanimously:— ; “(i) That the movement Initiated by Major T. H. Melrose to awaken New Zealand to the potentialities of the Home Guard as an offensive lighting force be extended to embrace the adequate defence of New Zealand as a whole, Including the placing or weapons in the hands of civilians if necessary. (2) That this meeting is of opinion that New Zealand should be placed on a total war oasis immediately by the mobilisation of the whole of the country’s resources including the time, labour and'resources or any person in any walk or life whose services or wealth are ! considered necessary Tor the defence of the realm, including the declaration or a state of martial law if necessary. (3) That the. committees already set up in various centres be co-ordinated into an executive committee for the purpose or caifying out the above resolutions and of , acting as a liaison between tae Government j and people.
