PEOPLE’S THEATRE
SEASON OPENS IN HAMILTON The Hamilton People’s Theatre opened the 1942 season last night, there being a good attendance of members and friends. After Mr J. McKenzie had welcomed those present, “Awake and Sing,” a play by Clifford Odets dealing with a rather sordid cross-sec-tion of New York life, was read by Mrs L. Hayward, Miss Rona Stephenson, Messrs R. Meek, B. Paul, W. Earle, J. Grimshaw, H. L. S.eiffert and J. McKenzie. A pleasant social hour followed the reading. At the next meeting Mr R. Meek will give a lecture on the playwright Ernst Toller, illustrated by, readings from his work.
The People’s Theatre is arranging a programme for the entertainment of soldiers.
