OBITUARY

MR E. C. BLOMFIELD The death occurred on Saturday of Mr Edward Clare Blomfield, for many years a stipendiary magistrate. Born in Auckland 74 years ago, Mr Blomfield became a barrister and solicitor before he was 21, later practising at Whangaroa and Kawakawa. He was a stipendiary magistrate and Native Land Court judge in the far north. Before the end of last century he was stationed in Auckland, but in 1901 he resigned from the magistracy and with the late Sir James Parr founded the legal firm of Parr and Blomfield, becoming a recognised .leading authority on native law. He is survived by his wife, nine sons, and a daughter. Mr N. E. Blomfield, of Hamilton, is the eldest son.
