WEDDING

D UXFIELD—WILLI AM S A charming wedding was solemnised at All Saints’ Church, Matamata, recently, when Ellen Irene (Connie), only daughter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Williams, of Morrinsville, was married to Selwyn Kitchener, youngest son of Mrs M. F. Duxfield and the late Mr G. J. Duxfield, of Matamata. The ceremony was performed by Archdeacon G. F. Oulds and the wedding music was played by Mr P. Ingam. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of cream embossed satin designed with a heart-shaped neckline, tight-fitting sleeves and a fully flared skirt which fell in soft folds to form a train. Her veil of embroidered net was caught to the head with a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a shower bouquet of white gladioli. The bride was attended by Misses Violet Burton, of Te Puke and Hazel Latham, of Matamata, who were dressed alike in Victorian frocks of white sprigged organdi. They wore matching picture hats and carried posies of scarlet carnations. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Gordon Goodwin, of. Te Poi, as best man, and the groomsman was Mr Ray Goodwin, of Te Poi. At the reception held in the Kensington Rooms, Mrs Williams was wearing a navy silk frock under a navy coat, and a navy hat. Mrs Duxfield, who assisted her in receiving the guests, wore a black ensemble relieved with white and a black hat. They both carried toning posies.
