MORRINSVILLE SALE

DECLINE FOR BREEDING EWES The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited report that at their weekly Morrinsville stock sale on Friday a medium entry of fat sheep, comprising chiefly light-weight wether mutton, came forward. Competition was firm and firm values ruled. A few pens of store wethers, together with an extra heavy yarding of store lambs, comprising mostly medium to small sheep Bidding was steady and a total clearance effected at satisfactory prices. Breeding Ewes: An extra large yarding of all classes of breeding ewes, inducing several lines from the East Coast and Taranaki districts. Competition was only fair and prices easier all round. Four and five year ewes were two to three shillings per head lower in value than last week. A large penning of two-tooths met a dull sale with quotations three to four shillings per head easier, especially for small and medium sheep. However, in most instances vendors met the market and practically all the sheep yarded changed hands. Cattle: An average yarding with only a small proportion of prime beef, for which competition remained steady. Boner cows showed no alteration on late rates. Potter bulls were again dull of sale. A few dairy cattle sold under spirited bidding. Pigs: An extra large entry of all classes, the yarding including a good proportion of baconers for which the demand was keen, heavy baconers realising to £4 4s. Owing to the diminishing milk supply stores and unfinished sorts were not in demand and values accordingly easier.
