RUSSIAN ADVANCE

WHITE RUSSIA ENTERED DRIVE BEYOND SMOLENSK TRAGEDY IN CATACOMBS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 14, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 13 According to messages from the front received at Moscow, the Red Army has re-entered White Russia and is continuing to advance westward. This means -that the Russians have pushed on beyond Smolensk and represents a considerable advance westward of any point yet definitely announced as recaptured. The re-entry of White Russia was probably accomplished by advance units operating in the Smolensk province. A message received at Stockholm from Berlin states that the Rumanians at Odessa, powerless to overcome the activities of Russian guerillas who live in the catacombs, have buried them alive by walling up the entrances. One Russian submarine sank seven enemy transports in northern waters, according to an agency message from Moscow.
