OUTSTANDING AUCTION FLOCK RAMS TO 17 GNS.; STUDS TO 40 One or the greatest quality offerings of Romney rams ever submitted at auction in the Waikato came forward at the Waikato f-heepbreeders’ Association third annual Romney ram fair held at the Claudelands showgrounds on Thursday. The fact that o*ily two rams Tailed to reach the high standard demanded by the inspection -appointed by the association gives some indication of the quality and type or the sheep entered. This was fully appreciated by the large bench of buyers present rroin as far afield us Auckland, Rotorua. Ohura and Awakino. Top price Tor the flock Romneys was 17 gns., llock rams being sold at double figures, .stud Tams were keenly sought aTter, top price being 40 gns. The highest price for flock Romney was secured by Mr F. C. Johnston, Waitetuna, whose sheep sold to 17 gns, 33 of the offering being sold at an average or 13* gns. Top price for studs was secured by Mr W. C. small, Feilding, who sold to 40 gns. Mr T. E. Craine secured 37 gns. for a particularly good quality sheep. The sale was conducted by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd., and Newton King, Ltd., with Messrs J. T. McCaw, P. G. Vercoe W. L. Patterson and Arthur Smith in the’ rostrum. Mr (J. A. Walsh, or Cambridge, acted as breeders’ steward, with Mr F. T. Seddon, Puketaha, as Inspector. Following is a summary or sales, all the values mentioned being for one-shear rams:— Stud Romney.—Mr W. C. Small, Feilding, 40 gns., 28 gns.; Mr T. E. Craine, Feilding, 37 gns., 24 gns.; Mr D. E. Houghton, Bunnythorpe, 2 4 gns.; Mr E. C. N. Whitelock, Marton, 2 4 gns., 2 1 gns.; Mr D. E. Houghton, Bunnythorpe, 24 gns.; Messrs p. Bremer and Son, Tamahere, 11 gns. Flock Romney.—Mr F. B. N.
