WAR POLICY DISCUSSIONS INVITATION FROM BRITAIN (Official Wireless) (Received Feb. 13, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, Feb. 12 The British Government was anxious that India should be afforded the same opportunities as the Dominions in being represented in the War Cabinet and the Pacific War Councii for the purposes of the formulation and direction of a policy for the prosecution of the war, said the Secretary to India, Mr L. S. Amery, in the House of Commons. Britain had accordingly invited India to arrange for such representation, if desired. Questioned regarding Indian representatives on the Defence Committee, Mr Amery said the organisation of the Defence Committee was flexible, Ministers and advisers being invited to attend as necessary. Accordingly the Secretary for India, accompanied by the Military Secretary to the India Office, who was a majorgeneral in the Indian Army, attended the committee meeting whenever matters affecting Indians were under discussion. The Indian Army was represented in the General Staff, the War Office and the military side of the War Cabinet secretriat. Indian representatives would have equal status with the Dominion representatives.
