GIFT OF LAND

SOLDIERS’ SETTLEMENT 600 ACRES IN SOUTH (By Telegraph.—Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Friday Sir Robert Anderson, of Invercargill, has made a valuable gift of land at Invercargill for settlement of returned servicemen, states the acting-Minister of Lands, the Hon. J. G. Barclay. It comprises 600 acres of first-class land five miles from the Dipton railway station. The whole area is ploughable and is well subdivided and drained. It can be used for cereals and fat lamb production. The gift is conditional on the net revenue from the property being devoted to the assistance of servicemen’s widows and orphans. Possession is being given at an .early date and the Government will place control in the hands of the L#nd Settlement Board.
