SHORTER SCHOOL YEAR SEASONAL LABOUR DEMAND AUCKLAND, Wednesday Following receipt ol a letter from the head teacher of the Hamilton East School, the Auckland Education Board decided today to assist the State Placement Service in meeting the demands of farmers for seasonal labour by granting permission for Form 11. pupils to leave school before the end of the year, subject to the approval of the headmaster. The scheme to relieve the farm labour shortage by using schoolboys and university students during the school holidays has been bfought forward early this year to allow farmers to take full advantage of it.
